I had enjoyed the previous two books and I was excited to spend once again time with all those quirky characters. The story is set in motion with the arrival of Taryn, Jude’s identical twin sister who reveals that she has killed her manipulative husband and needs Jude to return to Faerie and take her place during the interrogation process at the Court.īefore diving into the finale of the series I was quite skeptical. Jude feels humiliated and condemns herself for putting her trust to Cardan. No one but her sister Vivi knows of her wedding to the King and her new status as the High Queen of Elfhame. “The Queen of Nothing” picks up just a few months after the banishment of Jude to the Human World. WARNING: SPOILERS FOR THE QUEEN OF NOTHING

In between the pages the already foreshadowed romance between the main heroes finally starts to unfold and by the end of the book the stakes are raised beyond imagination with Jude finally becoming High Queen only to be banished from Faerie and sent to exile in the Mortal World by her own husband Cardan who now is more powerful than ever. The character dynamics between her and Cardan as well as the interactions she has with her foster father, Madoc are exceptional. One the second instalment of the series the political intrigues, the scheming and the betrayals inside the Court reach their peak and we witness Jude struggling to maintain the power that she so relentlessly fought for in “The Cruel Prince”.
